China 2006 Escorted Tour

China’s breathtaking scenery and intense array of heritage make it an unforgettable experience where you can sample culture and tradition in 5 star luxury. Though relatively new to the golf scene, China boasts an impressive array of top quality golf courses.

We started our tour of China in the People's Republic capital city Beijing. A modern vibrant city with an amazing heritage. Places not to miss are the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Lama Temple, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven and a Tri Shaw ride through the old Hutong area. All these attractions sat well with the modern city surrounding them.

Our evening entertainment took in two shows, the Peking Opera and the mesmerising acrobatics show.

Golf in Beijing took a little work as the courses are 90 minutes from town. We visited the International Club and the excellent 54 hole Beijing Country Club.

After five days a short flight to Xiam (pronounced she-am) to the eighth wonder of the world, the Qin Dynasty Terra-Cotta Army. We also visited the Large Goose Pagoda. One show was on the itinerary the spectacular Tang Dynasty Theatre Restaurant. Colourful and hugely entertaining.

After two days in Xian it was time to move south a 1hour 50 minute flight to the picturesque city of Guilin. Where a lot of Chinese traditional art originated. With stunning scenery of hills and caves and the relaxing cruise down the Li River, and of course more golf.

The culmination of our golf tour was played over Twin Peaks the excellent Maryland Golf Course and Li River.

The outcome a family affair in the Men's event Colin Baker and in the ladies competition Melanie Baker both from Surrey's Hankley Common. Well done to both of them.
